Free motion quilting, mesh and strawberries!

Recently I decided to  tackle free motion quilting so  I joined a class at Crafty Ideas. The project was creating a bag with mesh which involved some free motion quilting.

There were some mini stressful moments when I accidentally cut the mesh and some fixing was necessary.  The class  was a lot of fun and I must say it really helped me  be more confident with free motion. My teacher Androulla, forgave all my errors and encouraged me to continue and ignore all the small mishaps.  We all ate some fresh strawberries and.... all is well that ends well.

I am pleased with the final result even though if you look up close........ !!!!!

Its been a while since I have gone to class and I would like to say that I LOVE GOING TO QUILTING CLASS. I enjoy the whole atmosphere of women gathering , creating and ....eating strawberries . - Nonie

Another little project to get rid of scraps from my red irregular bits stash ( stashes come in all shapes and sizes at my place!! ) .....wonky hearts ...
After sewing, slicing and re-sewing, in, true crazy patchwork style and, obviously using no templates.. my little hearts took shape ...well sort of shape... The backing fabric was the plain ,dark red, which also has a slight sheen ....

I would have stuffed them with lavender if I had some, to hang in my cupboards... I really don't like making things that are not practical ....next year maybe !?!.... Wishing a Happy Valentines and Every Day with, hearts all round to all...

Little Bags...Big Friends...

I decided to have a go at putting in zips...having done this years ago and for some reason always nervous about the finish I achieve from zips I was happy these 2 little bags worked...
The external fabrics were samples from a furnishing company so, were quite thick, making me more nervous !!..To make it even worse, the red and lilac bag was padded using cotton batting...as it turned out this little bag fits my friend's new, mini I Pad perfectly .... really pleased she can get good use out of it. The black bag is now in Australia and i'm sure is being put to good use by another really dear friend....think I will be making a few more zipper bags for friends in the near future but for now i'll zip it !!!!
