I'm just going to bag bags in this post....to bag a bag for those who are not aussie means to bitch and moan about bags....
After coming up with an idea at the beginning of summer of making a handbag using my patchwork and quilting ,and ,finding people who deal with leather bags ...it, the execution ,not the idea, turned out to be a real disaster and an extremely expensive experiment..( the finish I got from so called "professionals" was far from acceptable)
Picture
The worst part obviously was the handle and was told the leather was at fault !! Well being too forgiving I gave them a second chance with black "suitable" leather...again unacceptable in too many ways to write about...so decided to drop the idea till I
I find the right people to work with to make my own perfect bag...What to do?..... try making some little purses / bags  to get over it !!!
As I always like a challenge I started experimenting with different thickness of materials...and was determined to get over my zip phobia once and for all... Here are my ammateur attempts...

Found the perfect use for my australian button ...finally after 5 years of being stashed!
My next effort was using thicker fabric...and a present for a friend so she can put all her bits in when she goes to the beach...

Still not happy though as I need a pocket inside too and there seems to be a little too much lining...

Finally got the inside looking good !!!

One fish ,two fish, bouquet fish, hair fish ...

My nephew Paris was baptized this summer so it was once again time for Bomboniere.  The theme chosen was fish.    After about making over a 100 of them it became apparent that we didn't  really know what to do with them.  All these cute little fish with no purpose. Various ideas were heard  - scroll down to see some and the final product.

These were  put in threes and thrown around  by our young jugglers.

These were two of her ideas - fish hair and fish bouquet!

I always wonder what people do with these gifts afterwards.  A few  weeks have passed since then and I have  seen the  fate of some of the fish.  One was hung on a door,  three on the floor (keep practicing), one on a  key chain,  one hanging from a car mirror, and  one fed up juggler put them on his desk  as a paper weight !

I have saved mine for the Christmas tree!

And we all made cup cakes as well.  My daughter Irini decorated them!  - Nonie.

Zig zag kitty quilt with carrier bag.

Found this  pattern on the web  and decided to go for it.  I love the fact that the block is so simple.  Each block is just 2 rectangles sewn together.  The blocks are placed in a row so that the rectangles are alternately  horizontal and vertical.  Then the rows are placed diagonally  so the zig zag pattern forms.   If you look closely  you can see this.
Simple and effective. -Nonie

This was a gift for  a baptism.   All the leftover  scraps were used  to make a matching gift bag.
