I am trying to tempt the winter  into arriving but we are not quite there yet... It's still quite warm here in Cyprus.

This classic sweater  with cables was knitted with a variegated coloured yarn which gave it a younger, funkier look.

Well... the sweater is ready  so please get cold so my son can enjoy it. - Nonie

Ok....it was amazing , actually migranic when I had to leave ,as. a whole day at the exhibition was nowhere nearly enough time to take in everything on show...here is a sample of what I did manage to see...obviously they were all better in real life, as all quilts are...

What a wonderful surprise I found in one of the corridor/lobbies of New Parliament House in Canberra... two tapestries in absolutely gorgeous colours and displaying australian fauna. I nearly fell over backwards and was moved when I found out that these were designed and fabricated by australian school children with special needs. A project for the bicentenary of 1988.

" I love, I laugh, I live "

The pieces are uneven because I had something else in mind. The fabrics are different because I added pieces as I went along .The quilting was done with a variety of thread colors because I didn't have enough of one for the  whole quilt. The connecting of the blocks was unconventional because I quilted it before I put it together. The quilting lines are crooked because I let the machine sew  without guiding it...

It all began when I decided  to make a table runner and experiment with non structured free motion quilting. I selected a piece of plain fabric added  batting and a back  and began without a plan.  Initially the lines were about 2 cm apart. Slowly I added more lines between the gaps. The more lines I added the more exited I became so  I decided to make more blocks.  I connected them using an overlocking stitch that completed the look that I wanted.

I love its uneven textured feel, its pucks and tucks and its very simple and unkempt look.

Dolly Quilt
If you are  wondering what happened to the table runner. It ended up being a dolly quilt  for my daughter Irini.  Embroidered  in Greek are  the words.
