After being influenced by our quilter who loves making quilts from patterns but who also scales blocks to mini size and as I am slowly getting more mobile I thought I would give cutting a go and do something just not me... Try to follow instructions !!!

In yet another  attempt to tackle the 'scrap basket' I ended up with this 3D scrap quilt that weighs 4.5 kilos (9lb 14oz) .  It's a Folded log cabin block  and I used  the  Quilt as you go method  to make up the 5 inch blocks.  This was a labor of love and   also a weight lifting exercise for my fingers and hands. 

It proved to be very  nostalgic project that   brought back memories of the  nights at my grandmother's house in the village where we  used  the  Paploma ( traditional Cyprus Quilt) for  covers.  I didn't understand the value of the weight  back then but I knew that  the sleep was sweet and restful.  No doubt the love we felt was a key factor to good rest  but I am thinking that the  weighted blankets (also used for  pressure therapy) may have also  helped with the sleep quality.

Behold  the Petros Paper Pieced Psychedelic Quilt  in a  funky  twisted log cabin pattern!  
The pattern was selected by my godson Petros and the quilt was made with great patience and love.  I needed some  extra glasses   to complete the task and I still wonder how well one can sleep under this whirlwind of blue and white. 
No complaints so far.               - Nonie.

The chickens were based on a gift from dear friends who had gone on one of those distant holidays ...remember that pre covid life ...an upcycled brown patchwork ( log cabin style) Cuban chicken which seemed to be stuffed with socks ...I named mine Flaouna chooks, as they reminded me of the sometimes triangular cheese pastries we Cypriots have only at Easter ( most are square nowadays)..Another year, I made an unstuffed baby chooks version to hang and decorate lampades ( Easter candles we take to midnight service on Easter Saturday) for all my friends...I finished and stuffed my newly found chicken family in no time and they have cheered up the house and brought some Easter spirit ...duds no more!...# lesson to be learnt.
