Whilst In Oz I also had the task of creating a special quilt for a couple who had decided to vow their love for one another in an unusual way in Cyprus. They held a party over 2 days in a field of olive trees. The youngsters camped in the tents overnight at the top of the field, the couple's tent was different than the rest and was orange. The cream coloured, 3 tiered cake was on a table dressed with a blue tablecloth in the middle of the dance floor. The guests were casually and colourfully dressed whilst the "bride" wore a red , crimson and white dress and the "groom " a grey suit and a paisley waistcoat. All they wanted as presents were socks and there were cute witches hanging from some of the trees. The pathway leading up to the event was lit in green and gold and there were also 2 rows of fabric covered lights over the other side. The guests were seated for dinner on long tables with pink or green tea lights and a full moon illuminated the event naturally. The happy occasion had a cute pack of postcards as an invitation and instructions for all guests, words from these which I took and embroidered after the quilting of sparkly stars. This quilt was inspired from photos and actual fabrics from "The Get Together Party" It is nice to know that they are reminded of their special weekend in winter on the couch or in summer when the air conditioners are in full swing!
